Serra do Salitre - Yara Galvani Joint Venture

Yara Galvani is building a whole new Mine Industrial Complex in Serra do Salitre, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Local igneous rock will be reacted to produce 300 ktP2O5y of Phosphoric Acid (and MAP).
Brazilian phosphate industry was lacking big investment since last decade.
Recently Itafos restartup an Mine and SSP (with H2SO4) Complex in Arraias-Campos Belos, Tocantins State (formerly MbAC).
And Yara and Mosaic (that took the Vale Fertilizantes also recently sold business) are investing in Brazil, as agriculture still maintain the pace in a meager economic environment in the giant of South America.
We wish that good news will catalyze a new virtuous cycle to come soon.

Polyacrilamide screening

Always we need to be grateful for the people that spread knowledge among people into our phosphoric acid world.
In terms of filtration agents, I have to thank very much two very good men: Louis Irwing and Wayne Moss.

Phosphate Misr - EGYPT (Abu Tartour)

Company details

• Established in 2009. Phosphate Misr is one of two major companies that produces Phosphate rocks in Egypt with production capacity of around 5 million tons a year from one of the biggest reserves in the world “Abu Tartour”.
• On the other hand the company is on its way to sign a new contract for the exploration and exploitation of new
sites in the south of Egypt where it is expected to increase its production capacity of phosphate rocks in the near
future
Ore Reserves
• The Tremendous Phosphate Ores of the Plateau are currently being exploited by Phosphate Misr.
• The Phosphate seam spread all over the plateau covering an area of about 1200 km, only one tenth of that area had been geologically explored by means of 375 surface drill holes, indicating the presence of about 715 million ton of Phosphate reserves having an average seam thickness of about 3.5 meters.
• A small area of about 24 km out of the already explored area of the plateau had been selected to start developing the mine at the present stage.

They are tendering a Chemical Complex (for Phosphoric Acid) at the site.  http://www.amcham.org.eg/online_services/tas/View_Projects_Email_twitter.asp?project_id=35874

Phosphoric Acid

When I was studying Chemical Engineering at Poli - USP, we said that phosphoric acid was the second compound (in terms of production volume) of the inorganic chemical industry (losing the first place to sulfuric acid). But it was the first in terms of production value (again in the inorganic side of the chemical business).
I think that it is still valid.
Some 40 million tons of P2O5 are produced each year.
China, USA, Morocco, Russia, Índia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Tunisia, Jordan and Israel are the top ten followed by Lituania, Mexico, Senegal, South Africa, Australia and Indonesia.
And if there is something in transforming a sandy rock into a liquid with sulfuric acid (removing a lot of gypsum in the middle), well, it is more or less impredictable, in the sense that a mineral body is never really constant.
